Albert Bazzell, Jr. of Murray, KY, passed away peacefully at Spring Creek Health Care on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Junior, as he is known, was born March 23, 1925, to Albert and Ophelia (Duncan) Bazzell of Coldwater.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Emma Lee (Manning), brothers Robert, Eurie, Novice, Gernie and James Bazzell and Charlie Arnett and sisters Addie and Ovie Carter, Veva Turner, Jewel T. Jones, Mary Kirkland and Jennie Perich.
Junior is survived by two children - son, David and wife, Pat of Dearborn, MI and daughter, Patricia Smentowski and husband, Gene (Butch) of Chesterfield Township, MI; three grandchildren - Rhonda (Tim) Jarvis, Butch (Carol) Smentowski, and Keith. Smentowski; 6 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Junior is also survived by one sister, Betty Dixon of Kirksey, one sister-in-law, Dot Bazzell of Murray, two brothers-in-law, Max Manning (Glinda) of Clarksville, TN and Bobby Manning (Faye) of Lynn Grove and many nieces and nephews.
Junior was a WWII veteran, where he earned a Purple Heart. He was a survivor and friend, and always wanting to help others. He worked as an automotive service advisor for many years before retiring from Michigan to Murray, KY, where he continued working in automotive service; then until his late 80's as a painter and doing apartment maintenance. After retirement he enjoyed raising his own vegetables and playing cards with friends. He was a faithful member of Coldwater Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon since August of 1995 and always kept busy until recent health issues.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Salmon will officiate, and burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11a.m. till 2p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
