Dr. Alberta May Chapman Hall departed this life on December 3, 2016. She was born February 17, 1930, in Ohio County, Kentucky. She spent her childhood in the area of Centertown and Vine Grove, Kentucky, and received her Bachelor of Arts from Kentucky Wesleyan College. She completed her Master of Arts in Education and her Doctor of Education from the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Hall joined the faculty of Murray State University in 1959. During her tenure there, she was a member of Delta Pi Epsilon and served as the 1963 sponsor for Pi Omega Pi. She also served as President of the Kentucky Business Education Association from 1969-1970 and was a lifetime member of Distributive Education Clubs of America. She served as the coordinating and supervising professor for student teachers and retired in 1984 as Professor of Business Administration from Murray State University.
She attended the First United Methodist Church in Murray before becoming an active member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
Dr. Hall was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron Chapman and Louise Austin Chapman, and a sister-in-law, Reva Dell Culpepper. She is survived by Robert Henry Hall, her loving husband of 27 years. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Starkie Hall; a nephew, JW Hall and wife Irene; a nephew, Bobby Hall and wife Sue; and a niece, Jetta Culpepper, all of Murray. She is also survived by a nephew, Jimmy Culpepper, of Hollywood, Florida; and a niece, Donna Hall Fair, of Pearland, Texas, as well as a great niece and nephew. Other survivors include special friends, Van Ray Prince and wife Edda, of Huntingdon, Tennessee; Jannette Fricker and husband Steve, of Murray; and Gail Rhodes and husband Rick, of Farmington.
Visitation will be from 12 noon till 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Tim Esque will officiate, and burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery.
