Mr. Alex Barrett, age 81, of Hazel, Kentucky died at his home on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Mr. Barrett was born in Model, Tennessee on May 31, 1935 to the late George E. Barrett and Naomi F. (Carr) Barrett. Mr. Barrett was co-owner and operator of Barrett's Service Center in Murray for 20 years and later retired from the City of Murray's Sanitation Department in 2002. After his retirement, he worked part time as a barber. Mr. Barrett was a member of the Green Plain Church of Christ and he was an Army veteran.
In addition to his parents Mr. Barrett was preceded in death by one brother, James N. Barrett; and by one sister, LaRue Shook.
Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife, Wanda (Curd) Barrett, to whom he married on December 14, 1956 in Corinth, Mississippi; two sons, Kevin A. Barrett of Nashville, Tennessee and Dal L. Barrett and wife Laurie of Lexington, Kentucky; as well as two grandchildren, Megan Barrett and Ryan Barrett both of Lexington, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Jonnie Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Plain Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
