Mrs. Alma L. Adams age 94, of Dexter, Kentucky, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital.
Mrs. Adams was born July 31, 1919 in Callaway Co., Kentucky, to the late Daniel Huie and Beulah May Burkeen Williams. She was a homemaker, a member of the Palestine United Methodist Church, where she attended the senior adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Adams loved her potted plants, gardening, and her doll collection.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orean J. Adams; son, Jerry R. Adams; seven brothers, Oran, Jentry, James Edward, Vernie, Victor, Coy, and Orby Williams; three sisters, Maude Hale, and two infant sisters.
Mrs. Adams is survived by two daughters, Marion Mattingly and husband Joe, of Trenton, Kentucky, Sharion Meloan and husband Ross of Murray, Kentucky; two sons, Donnie Adams of Dexter, Kentucky and Earl Frankie Adams and wife Kathy of Dexter, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Ashley Adams of Murray, Kentucky, Amanda Adams of Kirksey, Kentucky and Brenton Bailey and wife Jamie of Murray, Kentucky ; four step grandchildren, Adam Meloan and wife Andrea of Kansas City, Missouri, Amy Meloan of Murray, Lindsey Shocklee and husband Randy of Utica, Kentucky and Kerri Nash of Humble, Texas; two great grandchildren, Emma and Gage Bailey both of Murray, Kentucky; nine step great grandchildren, Brooks, Mason, and Graham Meloan of Kansas City, Missouri, Sam, Emma, Trenton and Megan Shocklee of Utica, Kentucky, and Peyton and Reagan Nash of Humble, Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews and special caregiver, Sabrina Outland.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. David Allbritten and Rev. Robert McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013 after 5:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
