Ms. Amy Michelle Carraway, age 55, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at her home.
Amy was born on July 25, 1969, in Murray, Kentucky to the late William Noby Carraway and Euva Nell Parker Carraway. Amy enjoyed being outdoors. She loved tending to her flower gardens that she designed for specific species of butterflies and was delighted to have them in the yard. She spent years researching the perfect habitat for butterflies and loved sharing her knowledge with people all around the world. She willingly shared her milkweed seeds with people all over the United States. Amy was always disappointed when fall came, because it meant the end of butterfly season, but then she switched to her “cold weather” passion, which was watching college football. Her family and friends knew where to find her on Saturdays, curled up with her cat Bailey, cheering on her Texas Longhorns. Amy also loved animals and took pleasure in helping any stray in need. She had an avid passion for photography from an early age and especially enjoyed taking pictures of her butterflies and all things nature.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, James M. and Ruth Parker, and Leo and Hollis Carraway, and by a nephew, Craig Stephen Carraway.
Amy is survived by her brother, Steve Carraway and wife Freda of Murray, Kentucky; a niece, Beth Carraway Phillips and husband Jay; great nieces, Jaelyn Phillips and Hannah Carraway; as well as a great nephew, Preston Carraway.
The family will honor Amy’s wishes and privately lay her to rest in the Murray City Cemetery.
