Anita Oates

Mrs. Anita Oates, age 81, of Dexter, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at her home.

She was born on September 30, 1942, in Joliet, Illinois to the late Charles Host and Bertha (Wagner) Host. She retired as a switch board operator at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Oates; as well as one son, Tim Oates.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Schmitt and husband Bryan and Kim Knott; one son, Tom Oates; four sisters, Ann, Gay, Charlene, and Joane; two brothers, Chuck and Bernie; four grandchildren, Heather Clere, Gwen Brady, Seth Oates, and Jessica Oates; as well as three great grandchildren, Jabez, Haylen, and Serenity.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
