Ms. Ann Waldrop Griffin, age 68 of Murray, Kentucky, died July 18, 2017 at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. She was born January 27, 1949 in Murray, Kentucky, to Clara Waldrop Humphrey, and the late Ed Griffin. In addition to her father, Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents, H.T. Waldrop, and Delano Waldrop.
Ann was a Murray High School graduate and later completed her studies at Murray State, Florida State, and Tulane University. She spent over twenty years helping patients as a Licensed Master Social Worker in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During her years in Florida, Ann was a member of the Junior League, as well as the Kidney Foundation of South Florida. She continued her studies at the University of Miami, where she received a Master of Business Administration degree. She was also a member of Murray First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Clara Humphrey, Murray, Kentucky; one stepsister, Nancy Humphrey Gray and husband, Davis, Louisville, Kentucky and their daughter Maria Gray; one stepbrother, Dr. Ben Humphrey and wife, Margaret, Columbus, Ohio and their children Matthew Humphrey and wife Suzie, Micah Humphrey and wife Kelly and Theadora Humphrey; two cousins, Mary Warren Swann Sanders and husband, Steven Murray, and Willie Bell Farlless, Murray, Kentucky; two stepdaughters, Dr. Michelle Green Sands and husband, Dr. Christopher William Sands, and Jessica Green Osias, Memphis, Tennessee; as well as four step grandchildren, Russell William Sands, Emma Michelle Sands, Aidan Green Osias, and Anna Green Osias, Memphis, Tennessee.
Ann is also survived by a multitude of wonderful friends including Patricia Green Stolpe, Robert Stolpe, Tehisha Richardson, Erica Hill, Shawna Benjamin, DeeAnna Vaughn, Lindsey McDougal, and Veronica Teague.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, at First United Methodist Church, of Murray, and funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Rick Dye and Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tehisha Richardson, Erica Hill, Shawna Benjamin, DeeAnna Vaughn, Lindsey McDougal and Veronica Teague.
