Mrs. Anna Sue (Underwood) Hinze, age 89, of Hazel, Kentucky died on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. Hinze was born in Hazel, Kentucky on August 13, 1926 to the late John William Underwood and Dovie (Sanders) Underwood. Mrs. Hinze was an elementary teacher in Risco, Missouri and later retired as the Administrator of Good Samaritan Towers Assisted Living in Olathe, Kansas. Mrs. Hinze was a member of the Mason's Chapel United Methodist Church and there she was a former member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She was known by her family and friends for her delicious apple pies and her talent for quilting.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Hinze was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hinze, who died on June 15, 2015; one son, Stephen Allen Hinze; one son-in-law, David Diehl; five sisters, Clara Underwood, Opal Underwood, Eva Craig, Katherine Chrisman and Ruth Netherland; as well as by four brothers, Elgin Underwood, James Underwood, John Brent Underwood and Brooks Underwood.
Mrs. Hinze is survived by three daughters, Lori Beth Diehl of Murray, Kentucky, Deborah Lynn Perry and husband Ron of Alexandria, Louisiana and Carol Jean Shepherd and husband Roger of Apopka, Florida; ten grandchildren, Lexi Anna Diehl, Dani Elizabeth Diehl, Shannon Nicole Huertas, Jason Chadwick Perry, Lauri Brooke Fox, Mindy Jo Anders, Joshua Paul Sheperd, Susan Elizabeth Logsdon, Amanda Catherine Friesen Helman and Deborah Sue Hinze Freed; as well as sixteen great grandchildren, Taylor, Kayla, Jayson, Seth, Isabelle, Lucas, Peter, Robyn, Finley, Madelyn, Sophie, John William, Carolina, David, Nora and Cerrie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18 ,2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mason's Chapel United Methodist Church with Chaplain Ron Perry, Roger Shepherd and Rev. April Arnold officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral hour (11:00 a.m.) at Mason's Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
