Arlene M Hall (Ford) passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in Murray, Kentucky. She was born November 6, 1955 in Michigan City, Indiana to John and Dolores Hall, who survive. In 1997 she married Randal Ford surviving, Murray, Kentucky. Other survivors are one sister, Anita Hall DeRitter, Louisiana; Niece, Carol Roy (Jeremy) DeRitter, Louisiana: Nephew John Goetz (Stefani), Lafayette, Indiana; and three great nieces
Services will be held at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home on 201 South 3rd Street, Murray Kentucky, on Friday, May 28th at 12:00 noon, Burial will be private in Foster Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Murray State University Foundation, Attention Billie Downing Scholarship Fund, 106 Development Center, Murray, Kentucky 42071. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – funeral hour at the funeral home. On line condolences may be made at www.thejhchurchillfuneralhome.com.
Arlene received her Ph.D. from Purdue University; and M.Ed. for University of South Carolina; B.S. in Education from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. Arlene was with the Barnwell, South Carolina School System from 1978 – 1993 where she served as a guidance counselor and taught special education and math. Arlene came to Murray State University in 1997 as a member of the Department of Adolescent, Career, and Special Education. In addition to a variety of professional publications, she was a frequent presenter at both state and national levels. Arlene was awarded several grants for projects with Murray State University, and the Kentucky Department of Education grant for Young Men’s leadership academy for summers from 2007-2010.
Arlene received many special honors in her career. Those most special to her were The Regents Award for Excellence in Teaching, College of Education, Murray State In 2004. The Who’s who of professional educators, International who’s who 2004. The teacher of the year award at Guinyard-Butler Middle School In Barnwell, South Carolina 1992-1993.
Arlene was fearless in her caring for others. She served individuals and families with special needs in a variety of ways, including educating teachers and consulting for schools and families. She served as President 2008 -2009 of Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children and was a member of the Board of Directors Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children.
