Arvis Thorn

Mr. Arvis Kay Thorn, age 80, of Almo, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home. 

          Mr. Thorn was born on August 23, 1943, in Dexter, Kentucky to the late Claud Thorn and Clara Thweatt Thorn. He worked at Tappan Stove Plant until it closed, then became a self-taught automotive computer technician. He never met a stranger and was a jack of all trades who mastered anything he wanted to learn more about. Mr. Thorn was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for 24 years. 

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Dean Darnall and Clarissa Willey.

          Survivors include his wife, Martha Craig Thorn of Almo, Kentucky; they married on June 22, 1963, at Masons Chapel in Hazel, Kentucky; two daughters, Jeanne Underhill (Stacey) of Murray, Kentucky and Jana Falwell (Andrew) of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Jeff Thorn (Robin Herndon) of Puryear, Tennessee; one brother, Jackie Thorn of Almo, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Corey Underhill (Nikki Evers), Zachary Underhill (Kim), Tyler Underhill (Keeli), Ellie Falwell, and Evan Falwell all of Murray, Kentucky; as well as three great-grandchildren, Remington Underhill, Luella Underhill, and Emmitt Underhill  all of Murray, Kentucky.

          A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with John Dale and Steven Hunter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Stewart Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
