Bernard Anthony “Andy” Gannon, III, age 49, of Murray, KY, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Gannon was born in Princeton, New Jersey on May 6, 1961. Mr. Gannon received his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Marquette University, and a PHD at Southern Illinois University. Mr. Gannon was a former professor at Murray State University where he taught in the History department for 14 years. Mr. Gannon was of Catholic Faith.
Mr. Gannon was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Gannon, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Bernard Gannon, Sr. and Annette (Norris) Gannon; maternal grandparents Otis Lovins and Esther (Spiceland) Lovins.
Mr. Gannon is survived by his daughter, Grace Gannon of Murray, KY; sons, Charlie Gannon and Jack Gannon both of Murray, KY; mother, Wilma Lovins Gannon of Murray, KY; sister, Laura Gannon Young of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Kevin Gannon of Murray, KY, Tim (Paula) Gannon of Louisville, KY, Mark (Christy Zigich) Gannon of Charlotte, NC; former wife and mother of children, Amy (Straus) Gannon of Murray, KY; nieces, Kaitlyn Young of Jacksonville, FL, and Elizabeth Gannon of Louisville, KY; nephews, Steven Young and Shiah Gannon both of Jacksonville, FL; and special friend, Mary Rascoe of Benton, KY.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at the New Concord Cemetery. Father Jason McClure will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
