Mr. Bernice E. Garland, age 90, of Murray, Kentucky died on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Lake Way Nursing and Rehab in Benton, Kentucky.
Mr. Garland was born in Model, Tennessee on October 28, 1927 to the late Virgel Garland and Mary Elizabeth "Rosey" (McDougal) Garland. Mr. Garland retired from AT&T Phone Company after 32 years. He was currently employed with the Conklin Company as a district manager with 30 years of service. Mr. Garland was also a farmer and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the West Fork Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and served as a former Deacon.
In addition to his parents Mr. Garland was preceded in death by his wife, Cozy Edith (Cohoon) Garland; two sisters, Elsie Roberson and Frances Tucker; and by one brother, Jack Garland.
Mr. Garland is survived by two sons, David Earl Garland and wife Glenda of Murray, Kentucky and Danny James Garland and wife Candy of House Springs, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Esther Cohoon of Murray, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, John L. Tucker of Kirksey, Kentucky; as well as six grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Susanna and Benjamin all of Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion, Post #73. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
