Mrs. Bettie Lou Farris, 92 of Murray, Kentucky, formerly of Crockett County Tennessee, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at her home. She was born November 13, 1919, to the late Owen and Edna Jennings of Maury City, Tennessee and moved to Paris, Tennessee at a young age, living there until her marriage to Cecil B Farris of Murray, Kentucky on November 23, 1940.
She co-owned and operated Farris Loose Leaf Floor and Farris Grain Company with her husband and son. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Murray Women's Club Zeta Department, spent countless hours volunteering at Playhouse in the Park, and an avid supporter of the Murray High School Lady's Basketball and Soccer teams. She enjoyed water aerobics and playing bridge.
Preceding her in death were her husband Cecil B Farris in 1993, one sister, Grace Kirkpatrick, five brothers, James, Johnny, Frank Wilson and Bobby Jennings and her parents Owen and Edna Jennings.
Survivors include one son, Cecil B Farris II "Buddy" and his wife Mary Jo of Murray, Kentucky; five granddaughters, Lisa Farris of Texas, Laura Farris Clague and husband Rob of Texas, Shelley "Nikki" McKeel and husband Jeremy of Murray, Kentucky, Alexandria M. Farris and Chloe Farris; and three great grandchildren, Keeli and Kyler McKeel of Murray, Kentucky, and Madeline Clague of Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 10:00 am at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Dye and John Dale will officiate. Burial will follow at the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 at the funeral home.
