Mrs. Betty Jo Crass, 83, of Murray, Kentucky died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Murray – Calloway County Hospital.
Mrs. Crass was born in Caldwell County Kentucky on June 18, 1931 to the late Charles B. Lester and Gladys Childress Lester. Mrs. Crass retired after 20 years serving as the Murray City Clerk. Mrs. Crass was a member of the First Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship Group. She also served on the Chamber of Commerce Board, Freedom Fest Board, United Way Board, the Big Brother and Big Sister Program, Murray City Council, Executive Committee Calloway County Democratic Party, Murray Electric Plant Board, the Murray Woman's Club Creative Arts Department and served as the secretary for the honorable Frank Albert Stubblefield.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Crass was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice "Sonny" Crass, Jr.
Mrs. Crass is survived by one daughter, Gay Robison of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one son, Gary L. Crass and wife Krista of Murray, Kentucky; two sisters, Lillian Cotthoff and Mildred Weeks both of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; one brother, Richard Lester of Princeton, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Matthew Robison and wife Tonya of Louisville, Kentucky, Kellyn Jo Robison of Los Angeles, California, Gary F. Crass of Murray, Kentucky and Catherine Crass of Austin, Texas; as well as two great grandchildren, Adrianna R. Robison and Josiah Robison both of Louisville, Kentucky.
Services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Murray and burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
