Dr. Betty Jean Hinton, 87, passed on September 12, 2015. She was a resident of Mills Manor Nursing Home in Mayfield, Kentucky. Dr. Hinton was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Juanita and Champ Hinton.
Dr. Hinton was a skilled educator with degrees in education and theater. Her Ph.D. in communications was from Southern Illinois University. She taught in several states and her last teaching position was starting the Master's program in communications at Murray State University.
Dr. Hinton owned Framer's Gallery then later the Special Occasion gift shop in Murray. Always wanting to accomplish more, she attended school in Franklin, Tennessee to become a day trader in the stock market. Her little poodle Sasha was her love and her faithful companion for 15 years. She attended singing schools four summers in Russia and Ukraine, counseling students. One summer she taught a class on proper breathing techniques for singing.
A memorial/celebration of her life will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sid Easley Alumni building at Murray State University.
