Mr. Billy Max Erwin, age 83, of Hazel, Kentucky, died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Arbor Place in Puryear, Tennessee.
Mr. Erwin was born April 12, 1931, in Lynn Grove, Kentucky, to the late Hubert Franklin "Hub" Erwin and Eva Bazzell Erwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Tom Erwin and Rob Erwin; and by one sister, Judy Parker.
Mr. Erwin was a retired farmer, owned and operated Erwin's Country Sausage, was a previous Magistrate for district 3, and also served as the Calloway County Road Superintendent. Mr. Erwin was as an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, was a Kentucky Colonel, and member of the South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry Paul Erwin of Hazel, Kentucky, they married January 19, 1952 in Greene County, Mississippi; two daughters, Evie Paschall and husband Rick of Murray, Kentucky and Dr. Terri Erwin of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Billy Paul "Bucky" Erwin and wife Nancy of Hazel, Kentucky; two sisters, Mary Frank Paschall and Diane Erwin of Murray, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Carla Gray and husband Scott of Hazel, Kentucky, Nicole Erwin of Fiji Indonesia, Addie Erwinof Paris, France, Nathan Erwin of Melbourne Australia, and Isaac Erwin Gallimore of Louisville, Kentucky; as well as one great grandchild, Jared Gray.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. at South Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, 5671 Crossland Road, Hazel, Kentucky.
