Mr. Billy "Travis" Altman Hammack age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, died Saturday, January 03, 2015 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Kentucky.
Mr. Hammack was born December 27, 1929 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to the late William Travis and Ida Mae Edmiaston Hammack. He was a retired supervisor from the United States Postal Service in Peoria, Illinois; A Boy Scout leader; Song leader and Deacon of East Peoria Church of Christ, member of the New Concord Church of Christ; member of the Civitans of Murray, and former treasurer of the Calloway County Republican party. He was also owner of grandma antiques in Hazel, Kentucky. Mr. Hammack also served as a Navy Veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Mathis Hammack.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa DeLancey and husband Greg of Murray, Kentucky and Tami Heffington and husband Sid of Thompsons Station, Tennessee; one son, Trent Hammack and wife Kris of Rockvale, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Heather Bogard, Chad DeLancey, Jennifer Settle, Nicholas Heffington, Amber Kanzelmeyer, Nina Heffington, Tristan Hammack, Mitchell Heffington, and Taylor Hammack; also thirteen great grandchildren, Braxton Bogard, Blayne Bogard, Rayna DeLancey, Will Stewart, Shane Stewart, Mackenzie DeLancey, Kailee DeLancey, Madeline Stewart, Lillian Kanzelmeyer, Samuel DeLancey, Olivia Davidson, Spencer Settle and Aubrey Heffington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Blake Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
