Blanche Cheatham Titsworth, beloved wife of the late Dr. Howard Titsworth and mother of three, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House. She was 97 years old.
Blanche was born June 19, 1920 in Columbia, KY to the late Emma Clarice and Cassius Dohoney Cheatham. She graduated from Lindsay Wilson Junior College and then matriculated to Eastern Kentucky University for a degree in Education. From Richmond she moved to Louisville to pursue her teaching career. While in Louisville she met her future husband, Howard Titsworth who was attending UofL Dental School. They married Derby Day 1944 and enjoyed 50 wonderful years together.
Blanche took great pride in being a housewife raising three children and helping care for her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Kentucky Dental Auxiliary and served as past State President. She spent many years in the First Christian Church Choir, member of Murray Woman's Club, PEO Sorority, several Bridge Clubs, and Murray Magazine Club. The past 25 years she has attended the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Christian Adult Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Titsworth was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. A. Howard Titsworth; a sister, Ruth Cheatham; and two brothers, William Cheatham and Richard Cheatham. She is survived by a son, Dr. Steven Howard Tinsworth of Bradenton, FL; two daughters, Anne T. Bennett (John) of Riverside, CA and Ruth T. Johnson (Lyndel) of Gilbertsville, KY; her grandchildren, Dr. Ryan Baird Pickens (Kristi), Dr. Anne Bligh Murry (Wes), John Joshua Bennett (Kim), Elizabeth Anne Richardson (Tim), Christin T. Baker (Martin), Summer T. Sletten (Kevin), Andrew D. Mobley, Ian F. Mobley, and John S. Tinsworth; 10 great grandchildren; and special family friends, Anne and Chuck Hoke.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Dr. Rick Dye and the Rev. Jim Stahler will officiate. Burial will follow at the Murray City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
