Bobbie was the beloved wife of Harry Joseph Piotrowski for 66 years. She was the loving mother of Steven (Lynda) Piotrowski and Denise (Paul) Kelsey. She was the loving grandmother to Nicholas and Madeline Kelsey and Jason (Ashley) Major. Dear Sister-in-law to Franziska Piotrowski. She had several nieces and nephews, and was fond of all, making sure that their respective birthdays were noted with a card from her each year.
Preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her siblings, Dorothy Sue Miller, Rita McKee, John Morris and Brother in law Leonard Piotrowski, along with her cherished cousins Theda Farris and Martha Brandon.
Bobbie Jean grew up in 30's and 40's on a rural farm outside Murray, KY. She would recall for her children and grandchildren how life was then for her and her three siblings. With water coming from a hand-pump well, and no indoor plumbing for a family of six, life was challenging. Still, she felt fortunate that they had an old plow horse to ride to elementary school. As she grew up, she would work the small family farm, and to earn a wage, she would also work neighboring farms to contribute to the family income. It is during that time that Bobbie learned the art of sewing and canning fruits and vegetables, which she would continue to do throughout her life for her family. Later she would become quite adept at the art of ceramics, making anything from ceramic Christmas trees to a full 15 piece nativity set.
Upon graduating in 1950 from Almo High School, she packed her bags and traveled to Detroit where her father, Ruben was living. Many of her family and friends doubted she would make it a year. Undaunted, she found her way, working in diners in and around Detroit. Then in 1952, she met her to-be husband, Harry. They would marry in the Summer of '54 and remain so until their deaths.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Temple Hill Cemetery in Almo, Kentucky. Father Brandon Williams will officiate. There will be no public visitation held.
