Mr. Bobby Lynn Poor age 84, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Poor was born April 4, 1931 in Newbern, Tennessee, to the late Grady M. Poor and Tula Journey Poor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Poor.
Mr. Poor was retired from Gates Rubber, and Duquoin Iron as an Industrial salesman. He also was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. Bob was also a past member of the board at Murray Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed woodworking and had built many cabinets and other pieces of furniture for others. He also loved working on cars, playing dominoes and cards, watching old westerns, fishing and camping on Kentucky Lake with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Olene Wilson Poor of Murray, Kentucky, they eloped May 1, 1954 in Hernando, Mississippi; daughter, Donna Lynn Poor Walls and husband Robert of Effingham, Illinois; two sons, David Wayne Poor and wife Tamara of Chehalis, Washington, Dr. Christopher Lee Poor and wife Bridget of Murray; three sisters, Jean Simpson of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Joyce Ann Bell and husband Jerry of Union City, Tennessee, and Mary Avant of South Haven, Mississippi; three brothers, Arthur Lee Poor and wife Martha of Frog Level, Tennessee, John David Poor and wife Brenda of Union City, Tennessee, and Grady M. Poor III of Karber's Ridge, Illinois; also eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Bro. Matt Ellis will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
