Mrs. Brenda Hamilton Jones, age 78, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, surrounded by family at her home.
She was born on October 12, 1946, in Cairo, Illinois to the late Grundy Hamilton and Almarine (Bowles) Hamilton. Brenda graduated from Murray State University in 1969. She was on the MSU Rifle Team and married Brownie Jones on September 12, 1974. Brenda was the manager of Murray Manor, Southside Manor, and Mur Cal Apartments for several years and retired from Kopperud Reality. Mrs. Jones even taught at Benton High School for a brief period of time. She was the past president of the Murray 4-H club and a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for over 20 years. Brenda authored two books, “On Wings of Eagles” and “One Frugal Women’s Guide to Re-Knitting”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her one stepsister, Linda Mittendorf; as well as her stepfather, Warren Tilford.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Brownie Jones of Murray, Kentucky; one daughter, Amy Roberson (Gary) of Murray, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Tanna Roberson (Jesse) of Murray, Kentucky and Libby (Roberson) Parks (Dylan) of Murray, Kentucky; one great-grandson, Hayden Cole Parks of Murray, Kentucky; two stepsisters, Mariann Groves (John) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Karen Alexander (Bob) of Covington, Kentucky; one stepbrother, Larson Tilford (Judy) of Ragland, Kentucky; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Servies with Bro. Glynn Orr officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
