Burie "Huz" Giles
February 23, 1928 — November 27, 2020
Mr. Burie "Huz" Giles, age 92, of the Dukedom community, Kentucky, died on, Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Mills Nursing & Rehab in Mayfield, Kentucky.
Mr. Giles was born on February 23, 1928, in Calloway County, Kentucky, to the late Elvin Giles and Ruth Lovett Giles. He retired as the plant foreman after 47 years of service with AT&T; he loved his men like they were family. Mr. Giles was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mayfield, Kentucky and was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
Huz enjoyed sitting under the carport with his family and solving the world's problems. He also loved to fish in his pond, mow his property, and enjoyed sitting at the beach.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Lee Giles; as well as his sister, Virginia Buchanan.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Giles of the Dukedom community, Kentucky; they married on September 25, 1947, in Murray, Kentucky; one daughter, Jenny Wood and husband Jackie of Murray, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Mike Wood, Amy Saalwaechter, John Giles, Lee Ann Thomas, Elvin Giles, and Elissa Giles; as well as 19 great grandchildren.
Due to the pandemic restrictions there will be a private graveside service held in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Bro. Boyd Smith will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family request that friends and loved ones follow CDC guidelines and stay safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
