Carl Martin

Mr. Carl O. Martin, age 78, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.

Mr. Martin was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on July 7, 1938 to the late Charles O. Martin and Eleanor (Deem) Martin. Mr. Martin retired from the United States Army as 1st Sergeant after 29 years of service. During his 29 years, he served two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Army, Mr. Martin later retired from Murray State University after serving 10 years with the Murray State University Police Department. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet (Willen) Martin; and by one brother, James Martin.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Robbie Martin of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on February 23, 1990; one daughter, Patty Mehr and husband Walter of Murray, Kentucky; one step daughter, Vicki Cunningham of Murray, Kentucky; five sons, Charles E. Martin and wife Kathryn of Anchorage, Alaska, Daniel J. Martin and wife Janice of Cadiz, Kentucky, David B. Martin and wife Renatta of St. Genevieve, Missouri, Carl M. Martin and wife Michelle of Denver, Colorado and Kelly S. Martin and wife Sujan of Panama City, Florida; one sister, Shirley Scott of Farmington, Kentucky; as well as 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale, Bro. Brett Miles and Justin Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarks River Cemetery in Symsonia, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
