Mr. Carlos Franklin Bailey, 79, of Murray, Ky., died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his home.
He was self employed, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. He attended Murray State University, and was a Murray State Racer Basketball player from 1950-1952. He was also a broadcaster for the Lady Marshalls basketball team from the 1970’s till 1980’s.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Summers Bailey of Murray, Ky., they married June 27, 1952 in Marion, Ky., daughter, Patricia Bailey of Murray, Ky., three sons, Tim Bailey (Patricia) of Madisonville, Ky., Thomas Bailey (Shondi) of Murray, Ky., Stephen Bailey (Jane) of Guthrie, Ky., sister, Edwina Johnson of Morgantown, W.V., eight grandchildren, Jessica Bailey of Crofton, Ky., Matthew, Rachel, Ryan, Brittany, and Joshua Bailey all of Murray, Ky., Sarah Beth Bailey of Guthrie, Ky., and Caitlin Brookshire of Trenton, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Reba Dobbs Bailey, also one brother, R.G. Bailey.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Glynn Orr will officiate, and burial will be in the Dycusburg Cemetery in Crittenden Co., Ky., visitation will be held Friday, October 1, 2010, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
