Mrs. Carol Ann Farnum , 74, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky died Monday, July 23, 2012 at the McCracken Nursing and Rehab Center in Paducah, Kentucky. Mrs. Farnum was born in Danville, Illinois on February 10, 1938 to the late Charles Guthrie and Emma Cox Guthrie. Mrs. Farnum retired from Westville Junior High School in Westville, Illinois as a language arts teacher, as well coached the girl's basketball and volleyball high school and junior high school teams in Westville.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Farnum was preceded in death by her son in law, Dan Duncan, who died in October 2011.
Mrs. Farnum is survived by her husband, Philip Farnum of Gilbetsville to whom she married on May 26, 1961 in Danville, Illinois; one daughter, Melissa Duncan of Dexter, Kentucky; one sister, Rosemary Burmeister and husband Dan of Bismarck, Illinois; two brothers, Tim Guthrie and and wife Pat of New Mexico; and Jack Guthrie and wife Sharon of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Andrew, Sam and Emily Duncan all of Dexter; and special friend and caregiver, Glenda Washburn of Benton, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Brian Brophy officiating. Burial to follow in the McDaniel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
