Mr. Cecil Cowsert Sr., age 68, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his home.
He was born on December 21, 1946, in Rosiclare, Illinois, to the late Alfred J. Cowsert and Doris Vaughn Cowsert. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant sister. He was retired after 33 years of service to Henkel and retired from Briggs and Stratton in 2008. He was a Post 73 Commander of the American Legion, and a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Cowsert is survived by his wife, Gloria Penley Cowsert, to whom he was married on December 4, 1965 in Kankakee, Illinois; one daughter, Kelly Neely and husband Brian of Murray, KY, one son, Sam Cowsert and wife Jill, of St. Anne, Illinois, three sisters, Brenda Perez and husband Andy, and Linda Perez, both of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathy Walker of Mesa, AZ. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Breanna, Jason and Zach Cowsert, of St. Anne, Illinois, and Jessica, Cheyenne and Jake Neely, of Murray, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Harrell officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
Visitation and graveside services will be held in Kankakee, Illinois, with Clancy-Houk Funeral Home in charge.
