Charles William Caldwell

Mr. Charles Caldwell, age 88, of 10th Street, Murray, KY, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mr. Caldwell was born in Lynn Grove, KY, October 16, 1921, to the late William Charles and Rachel Kelso Caldwell. He was owner operator for 45 years of Caldwell Used Cars, an Army veteran of WWII where he received the Purple Heart, and a member of First Baptist Church, Murray, KY.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by an infant son, David Allen Caldwell; sister, Katie Outland; brother, Cody Lee Caldwell; and niece, Carol Alice Gotman.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his wife, Essie Caldwell, to whom he married August 30, 1941; son, Jerry William Caldwell and wife Dawn of Allen Park, MI; sister-in-law, Murrelle Walker of Murray, KY; two grandchildren, Chad William Caldwell and Michelle Caldwell and husband David Babcock; great-grandchild Shaye Caldwell Babcock; and niece, Traca L. Martin and husband David of Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. John Dale will officiate. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
