Mr. Charles "Bertie" Dodd, age 83, of Murray, Kentucky died on Friday, February 15, 2019, at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Kentucky.
Bertie was born in Murray, Kentucky on September 14, 1935, to the late Albert and Sanova (Shackleford) Dodd. In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by one sister, Bea Warren and three brothers, Butch, Gene and Buck Dodd.
Bertie is survived by his wife, Glada; two daughters, Shari Sherwood and husband Tommy of Hazel, Kentucky, Terri Martin and husband, Alan, of New Providence, Kentucky, two grandchildren, Joshua Martin and wife Doreen of Beijing, China, Bethany Bowden and husband Ben of Huntsville, Alabama, one great-grandson, Sam Martin of Benton, Kentucky as well as his BFF, his cat, Bucky.
Bertie retired from Murray Paving as a backhoe and heavy equipment operator at the age of 82. For ten years he travelled with the Glendale Road Church of Christ to construct church buildings in Mexico. He was a member of the New Providence Church of Christ and was an army veteran. He had several hobbies that he enjoyed including Legos, photography, and flying drones.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Alan Martin and Joshua Martin officiating.
