Mrs. Charlotte O. Barker, 90, of Murray, KY, died Sunday, July 04, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Barker was born in Murray, KY on May 16, 1920 to the late Leland E. and Myrta Flora Kirkland Owen. Mrs. Barker taught at Grove High School in Paris, TN, as well as North Marshall High School in Marshall Co., KY, following teaching Mrs. Barker became the guidance counselor for Murray High School, where she later retired. Mrs. Barker was a graduate of Murray High School and Murray State University. A member of the First United Methodist Church, the Murray Women’s Club, the D.A.R., and the U.D.C.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, William M. “Bill” Barker, who died on Dec. 23, 2007, also by a first cousin George “Boo” Scott and his wife Betty.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennie Barker Arnold and husband Bob of Frankfort, KY, one grandson, William Gordon of Puryear, TN, as well as special friends and caregivers, Archie and Virgie Ramsey of Almo, KY, and a first cousin, John Ed Scott and wife Audrey of Murray.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Murray City Cemetery with Jim Stahler officiating, burial to follow. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., also on Wednesday at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
