Mr. Clarence Lamar Johnson, age 94, of Murray, Kentucky, died, Monday, February 25, 2013 at Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Johnson was born in Grayson County, Kentucky on October 27, 1918 to the late James Leonard Johnson and Lula Van Meter Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired as a supervisor for Philip Morris Company after 34 years of service. Mr. Johnson was an Airforce veteran of WWII and of the Korean Conflict. He was a 50 year member of the Wilhelm Masonic Lodge, #720; a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ and a former member of the Shively Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, there serving as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee for the church. Mr. Johnson was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as enjoying the sport of skeet shooting, while belonging to the National Skeet Shooting Association, Jefferson County Gun Club, Henry County Gun Club, and a member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his parents Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Sandusky, Eula Dunn, Virgie Williams and Rosella Williams; and by two brothers, Estill Johnson and Alfred Lee Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Pallie Corine Johnson of Murray, to whom he married on December 22, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky; one son, Gary L. Johnson and wife Shelia of Murray; one sister, Mildred Gibson and husband Marcus of Coal City, Illinois; two brothers, Marion Shelby Johnson and wife Imogene of Piney Flatts, Tennessee and James L. "Jimmy" Johnson and wife Anna of Leitchfield, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Tina Mullins and husband Chad of Murray, Crystal Holland and husband Jason of Nashville, Tennessee and Max Johnson of Murray; five great grandchildren, Kennedy Mullins, Samantha Mullins and Cohen Mullins all of Murray and Aubrey and Kaitlyn Holland both of Nashville; as well as several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale, Garry Evans and Jason Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
