Claudene Darnell

Ms. Claudene Darnell, age 80, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Claudene was born on January 8, 1940, to the late Estil Jewell Johnston and the late Deliah Beauton (Darnell) Johnston in Marshall County, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, Ms. Darnell was preceded in death by her sister, Glenda Lawson; brother, Wayne Johnston; son, Steven Ray Harper; and grandson, Kyle Logan Harper.

Ms. Darnell retired from Murray State University and was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son, Dewayne Harper and wife Pam; granddaughter, Darby (Harper) Lax and husband Dustin, great-granddaughter, Hailey Harper; granddaughter, Stephanie (Harper) Love; daughter-in-law, Martha Harper; granddaughter, Jamie Horton and husband Thomas; and great-grandson, Gabe Horton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with John Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
