Dr. Clyde Wright (C.W.) Johnson, age 91, of Murray, Kentucky, formerly of Mounds, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
He was an optometrist for 37 years in Mounds, Illinois; an army veteran of WWII; member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; lifetime honorary member of Oaks Country Club.
He was born in Cypress, Illinois, October 14, 1920 to the late Oscar and Clara Wright Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Pauline Goins Johnson of Murray, Kentucky in whom he was married to on January 15, 1943 in Charleston, Missouri; one daughter, Janet Seifert and husband Tommy of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Douglas Johnson and wife Nancy of Atwood, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Tracy Banks of Hernando, Mississippi, Leslie Lockhart and husband Gene Dale of Murray, Kentucky, Devin Banks and wife Aleshia of Kirksey, Kentucky, Dea Chenot and husband Billy of Independence, Kentucky, Dean Johnson of Atwood, Tennessee, Dale Johnson and wife Stacy of Atwood, Tennessee. Also eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bishop Allen Bakes will officiate, and burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Cypress Cemetery in Cypress, Illinois. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, and again Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
