Mr. Cullen E. Irvin, age 85, of Murray, Kentucky died at his home on Friday, September 02, 2016.
Mr. Irvin was born in Stewart County, Tennessee on October 2, 1930 to the late Roy Irvin and Grace (Futrell) Irvin. Mr. Irvin retired from the United States Air Force and the Murray Post Office. He was a veteran both of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force with a combined service time of 22 years. He served during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. While in the Air Force he obtained the rank of TSGT and was a Flight Engineer. Mr. Irvin was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church, National Association of Letter Carriers, American Legion and the Air Force Sergeants Association.
In addition to his parents Mr. Irvin was preceded in death by one sister, Fannie Ann Irvin.
Mr. Irvin is survived by his wife Alma Jean (Reynolds) Irvin of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on December 1, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi; two daughters, Sandra Harper of Murray, Kentucky and Sheila Balentine and husband Spencer of Hardin, Kentucky; one son, Michael Irvin and wife Alesia of Murray, Kentucky; three sisters, Robbie Trevathan, Ella Moody and Catherine Glass all of Murray, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Geremy Harper and wife Ashley, Richie Harper, Chase Irvin, Hanna Irvin and Ryder Balentine; as well as two great grandchildren, Peyton and Ella Harper.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Mike White officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
