Mr. Dee Farris, age 84, of Murray, Kentucky died on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Hickory Woods Assisted Living in Murray, Kentucky.
Mr. Farris was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 26, 1932 to the late Sherman Asher Farris and Murrell Dick Farris. Mr. Farris retired from the United States Navy and served both in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After his retirement he served in the Navy Fleet Reserve. He was a member of the Coles Campground United Methodist Church, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and a member of the United Methodist Men. Mr. Farris previously taught the Adult Sunday School Class, was active in the church choir and worked many hours as the sexton and overseeing the Coles Campground Cemetery.
In addition to his parents Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Richard Farris, Leon Farris, Rudd Farris, Asher Farris, W.J. Farris, Billy Joe Farris and Mary Lou Farris Sumner.
Mr. Farris is survived by his wife, Janice (Perkins) Farris of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on July 9, 1961 in Murray, Kentucky; two daughters, Debbie Daniel and husband Mike of Murray, Kentucky and Deanna Askin and husband Keith of Louisville, Kentucky; one brother, Bob Farris and wife Lorene of Murray, Kentucky; as well as 5 grandchildren, Kelsey Daniel of Murray, Allie Pollock and husband Justen of Murray, Kentucky, Sydney Daniel of Murray, Kentucky, Ryan Askin of Louisville, Kentucky and Luke Askin of Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Howe officiating. Burial will follow in the Coles Campground Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
