Delbert F. Newsome, 77, of the Coldwater community, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his
home. He was born in Camden, Tennessee on June 30, 1937 to the late Joe Newsome and Beatrice
Cain Newsome. He served in the Air Force, then the Army Reserve for 33 years. He was on the
board of the West Kentucky Rural Telephone for 22 years. He was a member of the Coldwater
Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bazzell Newsome, and foster
parents, Buel and Mildred Stalls.
Mr. Newsome was survived by four daughters, Natalie Hill and husband Max, of Murray, Mitzi Hughes
and husband Max, of Murray, Kelly Nicholas and husband Jim, of Paducah, and Heather Newsome,
of Murray; 13 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Damon Duke, Allison Burgess, Matthew Duke,
Richard Hill, Heath Garner, Tad Garner, Erica Bazzell, Devry Boggess, Deedra Hughes, Ian Hughes-
Penny, Ricky Watson Jr., Samantha Smith, and Sarah Nicholas; six great-grandchildren and step
great-grandchildren, Mason Duke, Ayden Burgess, Austin Burgess, Kaydence Smith, Zachery
Bazzell, and Ashlynne Bazzell; four brothers, Ray Newsome and wife Edith, of Paris, TN, Buel Stalls
Jr. of Murray, Fred Stalls and wife Linda, of Murray, Michael Stalls and wife Nancy, of Hopkinsville,
three sisters, Arnelle Freeman, of Kilburne, IL, Odelle Fowler of Jerseyvillle, IL, and Dianne Jessen
and husband Sam, of San Antonio, TX.
Visitation will be at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Coldwater Church of Christ at 3:30 p.m. with Richard Price and Hays Grady officiating. Burial and military rites will follow at the Coldwater Church of Christ Cemetery.
