Dewayne Smith

Mr. Dewayne Smith age 79, of Murray, Kentucky, died 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at his home. His death followed an extended illness. He was born October 28, 1934 in Fulton County, Kentucky to Maggie Barnhill Smith. Mr. Smith was educated in the Mayfield City School and was a member of the Murray Masonic Lodge, the Murray Lions Club and the Glendale Road Church of Christ. Mr. Smith worked at, and owned and operated Smith's Poultry in Murray for over 35 years.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ledean Smith and James Smith, also step-daughter, Allison Deanne Pritchett and daughters Terri Sue Smith Brown and Joy Smith Myrick.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Bailey Smith of Murray, Kentucky, they married On June 26, 1982, daughter, Shelia Smith Conway and husband Jimmy of Mayfield, Kentucky, son, Dewayne Smith Jr. and wife Janice of Almo, Kentucky, sister, Betty Smith Lemmons of Geneva, Illinois, brother, Doyle Smith of Clinton Township, Michigan, also eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Jason Hart, John Dale, and Rev. Kerry Lambert will officiate. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
