Mr. Donald C. Roark, age 71, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. Roark was born November 12, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Omar and Margaret Waltz Roark. He was a retired Lieutenant with 27 years of service with the United States Coast Guard. He also retired from the State of Tennessee, Department of Human Services, doing computer support. Donald was a member of Coast Guard Investigative Associative (CGIA), American Legion, U.S. Coast Guard Chief Warrant officers Association, and the Military officers association of America. Don was also an active member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ, former deacon of the University Church of Christ in Mobile, Alabama, and a former deacon of the Gainesboro church of Christ in Gainesboro, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Joy Roark, brother, Thomas Roark, and mother and father in law, Ray and Willie Gentry.
Survivors include his wife, Floy Gentry Roark of Murray, Kentucky, they married December 23, 1962, in Gainesboro, Tennessee; daughter, Marsha Harper and husband Lance of Murray, Kentucky; son, Jerry R. Roark and wife Diane of Conway, Arkansas; brother, John Roark and wife Betty of Snowflake, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Carly, Casey, Caleb, Jonah, and Diana Roark all of Conway, Arkansas, also Daniel and Matthew Harper of Murray, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. John Dale and Mike Flatt will officiate. Graveside services with full military honors will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 5-8 p.m., at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
