Mrs. Doris A. Houston, age 88, of Murray, Kentucky died at her home on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
Mrs. Houston was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 17, 1926 to the late George W. Aycock and Ethel Thompson Aycock. Mrs. Houston retired from the Murray State University payroll department. She was a member of the Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church; there she had taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and a member of the missionary group.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Galloway Houston; grandson, Curtis Allan Beane; and two half-sisters, Annie Doherty and Vergie Craig.
Mrs. Houston is survived by one daughter, Linda Houston Beane and husband Allan of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Robert Thomas Houston and wife Joyce of Murray; three grandchildren, Brad Houston of Murray, Kentucky, Christy Turner and husband Mike of Denton, Texas and Justin Houston and wife Ashley of Murray, Kentucky; as well as six great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Hal Shipley , Bro. Allan Beane and Bro. Ryker Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
