Mrs. Doris Jean Watkins, age 81, of Dexter, Kentucky died Monday, June 22, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Watkins was born in Dexter, Kentucky on June 17, 1934 to the late Legal Jackson and Jesse Woodall Jackson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dexter-Hardin United Methodist Church. She was also a part of the Adult Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Joe H. Watkins, to whom she was married on December 2, 1951 in Corinth, Mississippi.
Survivors include one son, Charles Watkins and wife Linda of Camden, Tennessee; three daughters, Carla Hudson and husband Donnie of Almo, Kentucky, Wanda Tucker of Murray, Kentucky, and Chandra Britt and husband Trey of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers, Willie Jackson and wife Martha of Murray, Kentucky and Ron Jackson and wife Linda of Paducah, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Shirley Shelton and husband Jimmy of Mayfield, Kentucky; as well as six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Burkeen will officiate. Burial will follow at the Murray Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 10:30. a.m. until funeral hour.
