Dorothea L. Stewart Mayo Hatten, known and Nana, Miss Dottie and Nana Dot, went to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 16th, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born in West Virginia, January 18, 1941, she was 85 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents Edna and Elmer Stewart, four siblings: Fred Stewart, Ruth Eaves, Butch Stewart and Nancy Fanning, spouses George O. Mayo (1969) and Don E. Hatten (1993), and stepsons Charles E. Hatten and J.D. Hatten.
She is survived by one sister Beatrice (Cookie) Stevens of Buffalo Valley W VA, her three children: Michael “Tony” Mayo (Cheryl). Marsha Mayo Adams (Michael) and Amy Mayo, six grandchildren: Taft M. Adams (Mildred), Grant T Adams (Hayley), Anthony R. Mayo, Grace Bailey (Jeremiah), Sarah Adams, Christian Steward, and great grandchildren: Boaz Adams, Abel Adams, Zipporah Adams, Tessa Mayo and George Mayo, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Miss Dottie was a member of Hardin Baptist Church. She loved our Lord her Savior, was an avid gardener, homemaker, quilt maker and was always happiest at home.
Special thanks to Anna Mae Hospice House and Passion & Purpose Assisted Living in Almo, Ky for the incredible love and care they poured out for our mom over the past few years.
No local services are planned. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Docks Creek Cemetery in West Virginia where she will be laid to rest beside her high school sweetheart and husband George O. Mayo.
