Dorothy "Dean" Cochran

             Mrs. Dorothy “Dean” Cochran, age 87, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Spring Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Murray. 

            Mrs. Cochran was born on December 13, 1936, in Murray, Kentucky. Dean was the daughter of Fred Caroll and Mable Culberson. She attended Murray Training School. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the North Pleasant Grove Cumberland Church where she taught children Sunday School and was song leader. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Women. In addition, she was also a member of Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 

            Dean was preceded in death by her father, Fred Carroll; mother, Mable Culberson; one brother, Franklin Carroll; one sister, Betty Sue Miller; one son, Randy Garland; and one grandson, Brandon Wacker. 

            Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jimmy Cochran of Murray, Kentucky; one daughter, Jennifer Lyell and husband Tom of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Rick Garland and wife Donna of Murray, Kentucky; as well as one sister, Mary Ann Lamb and husband Richard of Murray, Kentucky; grandchildren, Justin Garland and wife Terri, Josh Garland and wife Julia, Mason Garland, Coby Lyell and wife Dara, Chance Garland, Mya Garland, and Nadia Sensing; great grandchildren, Taylor Garland, Jase Garland, Braxton Wacker, Bryson Wacker, Madison Garland, Emery Ryan, Willa Lyell, and Stela Lyell; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Carroll; as well as one very special person, Carmen Garland.  

            A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Gary Vacca and Tim Thurmond officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
