Mrs. Dorothy R. Kimbro, age 89, of Murray, Kentucky died on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Lake Way Nursing and Rehab Center in Benton, Kentucky.
Mrs. Kimbro was born on May 20, 1927 in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Albert Hurt and Eula (Hutchens) Hurt. Mrs. Kimbro worked at Winslow's Factory in Murray, was a caregiver and a pastor's wife for many years, serving in Kentucky and Tennessee. Mrs. Kimbro was the oldest living charter member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Kimbro was preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Jonathan D. Kimbro, who died in 1983; one son-in-law, Jerry Kalberer; four sisters, Louina Humes, Dixie Douglas, Ernestine Edwards and Ruby Youngblood; and by three brothers, Hulin Hurt, Rudy Hurt and Dub Hurt.
Mrs. Kimbro is survived by two daughters, Teresa Kalberer of Murray, Kentucky and Brenda Vereycken and husband Gary of Almo, Kentucky; one step granddaughter, Danielle Vereycken of Maryville, Tennessee; caregiver, Virgie Ramsey of Murray, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; as well as several "adopted" children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Clint McCoy and Bro. Nathan McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnett Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
