Dorothy Dot Lavender

Dorothy Ann Farris Lavender (Dot), 79, of Murray, KY and formerly of Benton, KY died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at her home in Murray. Mrs. Lavender was born on September 26, 1935 in Cherry Corner, KY to Zelna B. and Eva Miller Farris. She graduated from Hazel High School in 1952 and Murray State University in 1956. Mrs. Lavender taught fifth grade at Farley Elementary in Paducah and Calvert Elementary in Calvert City, Kentucky for over 34 years.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Lavender was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Don Lavender, who died on January 28, 2014.
Mrs. Lavender is survived by her son, Mark A. Lavender of Chicago, Illinois; and a cousin, Paulette Irvan of Murray.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the J. H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the J. H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.
