Dorothy Mathis Starks

Mrs. Dorothy Mathis Starks age 93, of Almo, Kentucky, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Murray, Kentucky.

She was a homemaker and member of the Hickory Grove Church of Christ.

Mrs. Starks was born in Marshall County, Kentucky on February 2, 1923 to the late Olcie Mathis and Grace Nanney Mathis Gore. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Bernard Starks; two brothers, George Alfred Mathis and Olvie Mathis.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Johnson and husband Gary of Port Orange, Florida and Yvonne Pruitt and husband Sammie of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Jimmy Starks of Almo, Kentucky; two sisters, Opal Edwards Starks of Murray, Kentucky and Jean Clanton of Duck Hill, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Dave Johnson and wife Angela of Port Orange, Florida and Julie Steele and husband Rick of Jackson, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Steele, Nathan Steele, Willow Johnson and Magnolia Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Ron Hutchison will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00 till funeral hour on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the funeral home.
