Dr. Thomas Graves Parker passed away Oct. 22, 2014, at Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Dr. Parker was born in Murray, Kentucky, on Nov. 10, 1930. He was a graduate of Murray High School class of 1948. Following his discharge from the United States Air Force, he earned a B.S. degree from Murray State College. He received his medical education at University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his internship at St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville. He returned to Murray to practice at the Butterworth Clinic, where he served as general practioner and family doctor, specializing in obstetrics and pediatrics.
Dr. Parker left Butterworth Clinic after seven years to pursue a residency in radiology at the University of Tennessee Medical Unit, Memphis, Tennessee. After completing his residency, Dr. Parker joined Radiologists, P.A. in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and served as a partner in the practice for more than 20 years. He was a member of the AMA, American College of Radiology and American Society of Nuclear Medicine.
Upon retirement, Dr. Parker returned to Murray. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clifton and Opal Outland Parker, and his wife, Lavenia Jones Parker, all of Murray. He is survived by his children, Craig Parker and wife Selwyn of Louisville, Kentucky; Patricia Tenent and husband Edgar of Memphis, Tennessee; Pam Dunlap and husband Doug of Houston, Texas; and T.G. Parker and wife Lana of Rogers, Arkansas; and grandchildren, Matthew Parker of Louisville, Kentucky; Leah Carmean and husband Adam of Nashville, Tennessee; Claire Tenent of Greenville, South Carolina; Parker Tenent of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and Sarah Parker of Rogers, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Rev. Jim Stahler will officiate, and burial will follow in the Old Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
