Edward Allen Wiser, age 91, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed away surrounded by his family September 11, 2020, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Ed joined the Navy in 1948, serving in the Korean War aboard the USS Eldorado. When he returned home, he attended Murray State University and obtained a B.A. of Arts in Education. He went on to study Education Administration at Murray State University and graduated with M.Ed.
Ed met Wilma (Johnson) Wiser while attending Murray State. They were married on May 4th, 1957, in Corinth, Mississippi. Together they raised 5 children.
Ed worked as a teacher and principal for 9 years before becoming Superintendent of Fairfield Public School District # 112 in Fairfield, IL where he served for 17 years. He retired and moved to Wilma's homeplace in Murray in 1985. Over the next several years Ed kept busy working a variety of jobs from a night watchman to a building contractor. He spent many hours in his woodshop making things for his children, grandchildren and nearly everyone in town. Ed never stopped helping people with projects. It was truly his pleasure to help.
Ed is survived by children, Terry Wiser (Mary) of Murray, KY, Tammy Ewing of Paducah, KY, Tim Wiser (Sarah) of Mount Carmel, IL, Tonya Venters (John) of Mount Juliet, TN, Todd Wiser (Gina) of Mount Juliet, TN, and step daughter Laura Raber (Bruce) of Crestview, FL, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Julia Vaughn of Manchester, TN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Bessie Wiser, two sisters, Naomi Glenn and Valeria Wiser, a brother, Virgil (Pete) Wiser, and his son-in-law Curt Ewing.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the West Fork Cemetery officiated by Ed's nephew Larry England. Due to the current pandemic of COVID-19, all attendees are required to practice social distancing and wear a facial covering.
