Effie Odell Donelson

Mrs. Effie Odell Donelson, age 90, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, June 17, 2011 at 3:50 a.m. at the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mrs. Donelson was born in Calloway Co., KY on Oct. 26, 1920 to the late Thomas Jefferson “Bud” Chambers and Mary Maupin Chambers. Mrs. Donelson retired from the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital as a L.P.N. Mrs. Donelson was a member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church as well as a member of the Eastern Star, chapter #445.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Donelson was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lewis Donelson, who died in 1982; one daughter, Lynda Gayle Donelson; son-in-law, Wayne Johnston; four sisters, Lucy Johnson, Magdalene Higgins, Carrie Johns and Gustie Sweeney; as well as four brothers, Bud Chambers, Robert Chambers, Corbet Chambers and Willis Chambers.
Mrs. Donelson is survived by one daughter, Evelyn M. Johnston of Kirksey, KY; one son, Roy Dwayne Donelson and wife Barbara Jean of Murray, KY; four grandchildren, William R. Johnston of St. Louis, MO, Darren W. Johnston and wife Tammy, Salena Bucy and husband Donnye and Jim Lewis Donelson, II all of Murray, KY; three great grandchildren, Wesley Allen Cook, Katlyn Jean Cook and Hunter Bucy all of Murray, KY; as well as several nieces and nephews and her special companion, “Tinker”.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Robert McKinney and Rev. Elijah Balentine officiating. Burial to follow in the Fossett Cemetery. There will be a Eastern Star funeral ceremony held Monday, June 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the funeral home.
