Mrs. Elaine Farris Herzog, of Audubon, Pennsylvania formerly of Murray, Kentucky died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Shannondell at Valley Forge Assisted Living in Audubon, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Herzog was born in Murray, Kentucky on August 10, 1921 to the late Henry A. Farris and Susie (Knight) Farris. Mrs. Herzog moved to New York City after WWII and attended the Barbizon School of Modeling. A career that provided wonderful opportunities having numerous television appearances, including being on the Kate Smith Hour and being the figure for the theatrical designer Kiviette. Mrs. Herzog married Lester Herzog on February 13, 1952 in New York City after meeting on a blind date. They honeymooned in Miami, Florida and had a beautiful life together. Mr. Herzog died at a young age leaving Elaine alone much of her life, but kept herself busy by traveling to China, Africa other exotic places and traveling annually to Palm Springs, California, but no place was any more special or dear to her heart than coming back home to Murray. She worked part-time in the cosmetic departments of Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.
Mrs. Herzog is survived by one daughter, Susan Cade and husband David of Merion, Pennsylvania; one son, Charles H. Herzog and life partner Deborah of Colora, Maryland; as well as three grandchildren, Alexandra, Christiana and Jacob.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Murray City Cemetery with John Dale officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
