Rev. Eugene Burkeen, age 74, of Puryear, Tennessee, died on Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Rev. Burkeen was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on November 3, 1945, to the late Leon Burkeen and Eva Belle (Chapman) Burkeen. Rev. Burkeen retired after 30 years of service as a United Methodist Church Minister. He was a member of the United Methodist Memphis Conference and the Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Burkeen was preceded in death by two brothers, William Glenn Burkeen and Charles Burkeen; one sister, Gail Burkeen; and by one grandson, Justin Brian Burkeen.
Rev. Burkeen is survived by his wife, Mickie (Turner) Burkeen of Puryear, whom he married on June 5, 1962, in Paris, Tennessee; two sons, Kenneth Burkeen and wife Ellen of Benton, Kentucky and Tracy Burkeen of Murray, Kentucky; two sisters, Frances Goode and husband Curtis of Hardin, Kentucky and Elaine Nimmo and husband Larry of Dexter, Kentucky; one brother, Gary Burkeen and wife Ava of Dexter, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Zachary Burkeen and wife Jesi of Dexter, Kentucky and Kailyn Burkeen of Murray, Kentucky; as well as three great – grandchildren, Tripp Turner Burkeen, Breelyn Everly Burkeen, and Tatum Faith Costa.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services with a private family graveside service to follow.
