Evelyn Hicks Overbey

Mrs. Evelyn Hicks Overbey, age 95, of Murray, Kentucky, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Mrs. Overbey was born in Calloway County Kentucky on February 11, 1919 to the late Howell Perry Hicks and Parthenia (Outland) Hicks. Mrs. Overbey was a homemaker and a member of the Union Grove Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Overbey was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Albert Overbey, who died on April 2, 1997; a grandson, James Richard Oliver; five sisters, Mary Hicks Lamb, Sue Wells, Katharyn Schultz, Ilene Fair and Myrtle Cope; and by two brothers, Hall Hicks and Howell Hicks.

Mrs. Overbey is survived by two daughters, Patricia O. Houston and husband Gary B. of Paducah, Kentucky and Judith O. Oliver and husband Don of Paducah, Kentucky; three sons, William B. Overbey and wife Melissa of Almo, Kentucky, Donald F. Overbey and wife Judy of Almo, Kentucky and Kenneth W. Overbey and wife Ginger of Murray, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Lisa Ahearn and husband Dale, Brent Alan Houston and wife Stacy, John D. Oliver and wife Crystal, Jason B. Overbey and wife Amy, Meagan O. Blagg and husband Dennis, Michele O. Welborn and husband Jeremi, Amberly O. Gillum and husband Chris, and Kelly Overbey and wife Brittany; ten great grandchildren, Clancy Ahearn, John Ahearn, Virginia Houston, Julia Houston, Alisabeth B. Culp, Katherine Culp Oliver, Jeremiah Welborn, Gracey Young, Chloe Gillum and Leighton Overbey.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Murray Memorial Gardens with Johnny Parker officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
